Google answer session 4-12-07
I know I know! So soon after, I’m sorry. However, there were two that could not be ignored!
“Send buttons on cell phones”
Aside from something witty, truly there are not direct ‘send’ buttons. As anyone who text messages knows, we use whatever ‘action’ button is attached to ‘send’ at that time. The phone GUI will literally say ‘send’ and we press the corresponding action button. Kay?
“Sansa TiVo”
Ok, first you put in TiVo rather than tivo, so you must know something, right? This confuses and amazes me. Truly…if you happen on here again…please explain!

helpful google response
Since I seem to be getting various “pioneer how to activate AUX on” searches, I feel the need to answer this right quick. At least on my pioneer head unit (DEHP6800MP) activating the aux feature is a little odd. What the manual leaves out is that in order to get to that menu you have to go into demo mode, then follow the directions it lists. That should solve your problems.

Yup, another google answer session!
pioneer ipod controller sucks
Well, I wouldn’t say it sucks, but you do have a point that it could be better.
“you got me”
Boo!!!!!!
how to take off a ipod faceplate
My dear, iPods do not have faceplates, they have….the thing that is the front of the player. Your search should have been “how to open ipod” and the answer would be “guitar pick”, or at least back in the day it was. The mini (and I guess the new nanos) are a bit sketchy to open…so ya. Either way, iPods do not have faceplates. *ahem* IPODS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!!!!111!!
send photo cingular cripple motorola
You might assume that cingular crippled moto phones for this feature, but nay, it is simply a bit cracked out to figure out how to do. Reference your manual, you basically have to use the ‘copy’ function.

Why is this post not tech related? Well, I argue that they’re pics from my cell phone, so there’s your tech.
Viral advertising: stuff that infects all Internet using people, which tends to be young and full of affection for entertainment products.
Honestly, if you’re reading this and haven’t heard of Snakes on a Plane, please get your sorry butt to google and correct your horrific oversight.
So on my second to last day of work guess what merchandiser I got to build!!!

IE7: to angst or not to angst
I remember back in the day of watching The Screensavers on TechTV and one day during the opening newsbrief they said something like "Netscape released their new version [bla] today, but does anyone care?"
This new IE7 business that's freaking everyone out is completely unsurprising. It's microsoft, if you had a business, you'd default to helping yourself, right? Did we honestly expect anything else?
However, it's not all angst at first sight. If one should choose to run IE7 he or she has the choice of "[Searching] the Internet directly from the browser frame using [their] favorite search provider". Actually, it could be kind of sweet to have a search tab in IE without having to install one of those stupid bar things. While I'm not throwing bricks yet, and simply enjoying watching everyone else do it, I'm not hating it yet.
This brings me back to my original point though. There's a new version of IE coming out: does anyone care? Why can't we simply pat them on their backs and move on with our lives?
I first started using FireFox on my Mac Mini when Safari was causing anal bleeding of the internet, and I ended up liking da 'Zilla. Now FireFox may or may not be more secure than IE, but after living through the last election in a blue state, I can defend my usage by saying "I'll use what isn't IE."
To those of us who honestly know what we're doing, is the development of IE7 more of a sideshow act or something we're actually looking forward to?
Google saves yo’ butt from having to read microsoft one more time a day

I think I'm in the camp of "I don't care." Google to me, is null space. Go to Yahoo or MSN and all you see are graphics and ads, one has to search around for the search bar. When testing a mobile device's internet, or even testing to see if the internet is back up on your computer, what website do you go to first? Yahoo and MSN's front pages are loaded with animations and pictures while Google just has the search box right at the front. However it should be pointed out that Yahoo and MSN both have graphic free search pages. Once you run a search for something they both switch to the simple text ads. Also, if you're up to the typing, you can go to http://search.yahoo.com or http://search.msn.com to get graphic-less front pages.
How many of us really see google as a business? I know it is, and it's certainly out there working with a lot of companies. However, if you go into a store, how many boxes say Google on them? They aren't trying to push products on us like Microsoft does. Microsoft wants you to use only their branded software. Ok, well, it might just be a connotation thing. We link Microsoft with the baddies, and Yahoo as the "nice try there buddy", and google as the Mr. Rogers of the search engines. Either way, I'm in the 'shrug' camp of this issue.
