Review of the past few weeks
I haven’t written for a while due to school, netflix, tivo, and reptile conventions. However, this does not mean that I have been neglecting my blogs. I’ve kept up, of a fashion, but just haven’t quite felt as if anything that interesting has happened to require a post.
Okay, okay, the new ipod nano, I got it.
To recap the last few weeks:
Apple’s going to kick ass no matter what.
There’s a new nano, I hate it less, but at least no one can sue due to the lack of shinyness. The only exception: 8GB in a few mm? Props.
Sandisk is going to own like whoa at second place.
Creative is going to fall, although I don’t see how they could get any worse at this point.
Samsung…well…you still suck.
Dell and HP are whores, but we knew this long ago.
The PS3 will be expensive, but what isn’t?
Grandmothers across the country will be confused as to their grandchildrens’ requests to urinate for Christmas.
OMG of the thousands they’ve sold your laptop is defective? Ya, welcome to technology, get over it.
If you own a laptop, you might want to donate some sperm because your laptop will most likely fry your manhood.
Speaking of which, of all the reports of blowing up batteries, how come everyone’s lucked out and not received fried genitalia?
If myspace was a bar, you’d….well, insert something vulgar about molasses.
Facebook is becoming big brother, again, we knew this long ago.
OMG people can readz your infoz onlinez!!! Excuse me, but may I slap you upside the head for not understanding that which is reality? Get over it.
Zune dropped like a bomb because it sucked, not that Apple somehow has the hand of death up its ass. It sucked. Get over it.
More updates soon, I promise!
Dear Apple, please impress me
I have rarely been impressed by a new product release. Either the product has so many quirks I want to burn it, or it works as expected but there’s nothing I’m particularly gaga about.
The ideas behind Apple products make me stalk the rumor sites at first, but by the time the products make it to stores the quirks have bobbed up to the surface and ruined any excitement left after the price tag.
Why can’t a company make a product that doesn’t have errors/quirks in it? Don’t companies test these things out on random people to find out if they will work right without knowing all the little tricks so you don’t want to stomp on it?
What has been the biggest disappointment for you? For me, it was the nano. The idea of it just wasn’t executed correctly.
BootCamp
Owning a Mac is a compromise between using something great and using something not fully supported. Ironic, sort of, when you think that the iPod is what you get if you want to have access to the biggest selection of accessories.
Before switching a buyer must make sure that all their nessisary programs are offered, or equal offerings are available, before they can make their purchase. I love my Mac Mini, but I will not give up having Windows in my work area. There are a few programs for Windows that I’ve not been able to find suitable replacements for. Never before was I thinking about getting a Mac laptop, but now with Boot Camp (which is still in the much adored beta phase) I could have the Mac that I want to use on a daily basis, but still Windows when I need it. I know there are programs which will allow me to do the virtual PC bits, but I never wanted to go that way.
If I’m now looking to purchase a Macbook as soon as they upgrade OS X again, I’m sure there are plenty of other people thinking that same way. Boot camp is a step in the right direction for buyers wanting Macs but unable to give up their dependence on Windows (if I was a businessperson heavy into Excel or using Access, I wouldn’t give up Windows for anything).
Another for the “Do we care?” trash can, and rand(appledrama)
Apple announced today that they are still materialistic sluts (but did we ever think otherwise?) by releasing the new 5G 30GB U2 iPod. It only comes in 30gb though, that's a nice compliment towards U2 fans.
In other news with Apple, because we all know half their advertising is via the drama they excrete every business day, at least they can, like others, admit their mistakes. Leaving a piece of plastic on an obscure area of a laptop, I can grant them that if only because they're only a few weeks old.
Meanwhile, are you really this bored? This is one of those rumors that is so freaking out there that you have to believe it because you can't see someone being able to publish stuff he randomly cooked up. All I can say is at least they denied to comment.
Apple, you are such a drama queen.
Take back?

So if you turn in your old iPod you get 10% off a new one.
How about a program where you turn in your old Windows machine and you get 10% off your new Macintosh?
MacBooks or macboomers?
So the new macbooks, or should I be PC and say MacBook? No, macbook.
The 13" 2.0ghz core duo comes in two flavors:
black and white with a $200 price diff.
One would think….RAM and hard drive or somethin in there to cause that diff, ya, no.
For $200 you get a black finish and 20gb of extra HD space, maybe three years ago we would have gone "oo, neato", but today you get a resounding "fuck you".
The white model comes loaded with a 60GB hard drive while the black is 80GB, you can upgrade the white model to 80gb for $50. Also for $200 you get an upgrade from 1.83 to 2.0ghz, while at first glance this is complete bullshit except for the fact that if you look closely you get an upgrade to a DVD+/-RW. Ok, I can kinda see it. Still though, I've never had the need to burn a dvd. I might be an early adopter at heart, but I'm so not a worthy power user. I'm just a ram power user.
Evil mcevilness I say.
It's smart of apple because they could see that people have been begging for other colors, esp black, for their updated ibooks. Everyone knew something was going to change, esp with the color choices of the iPods (whatever happened to Bono's AIDS red ipod?). They saw the market of people willing to pay a premium for that extra. Smart as hell, but evil at the same time. $50 maybe I'd be willing for just a diff paint job, but $200? Fuck you.
Ok, well, I have to give them that they are coming with the airport/bluetooth card built in, that's a complete plus.
