Odd perspectives on tech reality.

Dear FanBoys, get over it.

Poor little Playstation kids have to share their toys with the less fortunate kids over in the 360 camp.  I feel your pain, truly.

Actually, no.

Get over it.  A petition could have been justified if Capcom announced that they were switching entirely over to the XBOX platform and abandoning the PlayStation.  Alas fanboys, they made a smart business choice.

Look, it’s hard as hell to sell games to begin with, and with the PS3 being a dud (shush up, it is) or at least an expensive enough item that a large consumer group is left in the dust, it makes sense that they would release on a larger platform.

E3

http://blog.wired.com/games/#1530936

Poor E3.  Well, it was getting a bit…big for its own good.  A smaller affair will def ease the cost on some smaller developers, or even for the bigger ones.  Cost is an issue with everything right now.

Personally, with blogs and the free advertising of ‘teh internets,’ a E3 is kind of useless.  I’m on the side of the fence that this is a good thing, but we’ll just have to wait.

Sony, a little to the left…right…left…no…just nevermind

Sony has always been an interesting company, hated on by some and glorified by others.  Well, I'm sure there are sony fanboys out there that aren't PS* obsessed.  In looking at phones and especially mp3 players, Sony has it going on with the form bit.  I mean, seriously, you will rarely find somthing by sony you want to crap on to make look more pleasing (except for maybe a few Vaios).

So why does a company with such a good track record on form completely miss the boat when it comes to function?  That previously linked mp3 player?  Ya, I still never figured out how to use it, and I've been playing with that demo unit for a year.  The Bean?  I'm sorry but that one requires a flyswatter upside the head.  Need I even mention the other issudes that come with a Sony mp3 player?  If you're going to control the usability of a product to one program, at least make it work mostly without suck.

The new Ericssons look freaking amazing to me. Like I'd go out and test drive it if I were in the market. However, Sony's track record of suck both on primary use (the actual unit) and secondary use (the sofware/setup) make me extremely cautious about investing in one of their products.

PS3 pricing: STFU

http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/e3/499-playstation-3-to-be-gimped-172418.php

I should be writing my paper, but I feel the need to comment.

Honestly, who gives a crap? There are people who just want to game, and oh it can play dvds? Neat! 20gb for media storage? That's enough for most people. I'd have gone with 30, but you win some you lose some. Bitching about not having hdmi out seems just like whining to me. If you have an HDMI tv along with the $100 cable to connect the stuff, yo butt can afford the extra hundred. The memorystick/ds/compact flash business, while annoying won't ruin your day. After all, you can just burn the stuff onto a cd, and there's also third party options. Now, to the one that does piss me off, lack of wireless in the 20gb model. There are ways around it, mind you those usually cost around $50-$100 so you might want to just go ahead and spring for the bigger one, but seriously now guys. Would it have been that much more expensive to include a flipping 802.11 card? The saving grace to this: usb ports. Totally just go tivo on its ass. I would have to say that a good portion of the population would be able to easliy hard wire their machine to a router, so the lack of wifi isn't entirely a deal breaker. Not to mention wifi divices tend to be bratty little things, I'd break out the ducktape and hard wire it even if I had the wifi option.

People might bitch and moan about the prices of these thins, but where does it say that every person has the right to afford these things? They are luxury items, simply toys. Not everyone can afford them, yes, which is why it's called luxurity and not a basic need. After all, if you're in the bitching because you can't afford it camp, perhaps you should invest that $500 in a savings account or college tuition so you have the chance of affording it later on in life.
